Pyramid Schemes and Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)

I have been told that Plexus is a pyramid scheme .. That you can NEVER make a decent living off of something like this! To that I say, you are SO wrong! Do you want to know just how wrong you are? You are wrong times a billion, squared, plus some. People who say things like that obviously do not understand the difference between a pyramid scheme and multi-level marketing (MLM). So I will explain, in plain English!

A pyramid scheme is exactly that. Someone comes up to you and says that if you give them $X they will invest that, or turn it around, and if you go ask X number of people for the same thing you will get back all you invested and MORE. You don't GET anything for your investment, no proof you did it, no end product. You don't have anything to show for it! You don't even have a company behind you that people can identify with or recognize. You don't get trained, you don't have anything to train anybody on, and you are basically on your own with no information or support. Most of the time you can't get anybody to invest with you because of that. In the end you and your friends are all out money, and there is a pretty good chance you are going to get in serious trouble with the law. Pyramid schemes are ILLEGAL. They are dishonest, immoral, and downright WRONG. (A serious WWJD moment for sure - would He do something like this to His friends? No? Then it's wrong!)

MLM is much different. First, you have a PRODUCT to offer people - think of Amway, Mary Kay, Avon, doTerra, etc. You actually have something that WORKS that you can offer out for sale! You have the backing of a company, something that people can look up and investigate on their own. You have genuine products that people can look at, feel, sample, and HOLD IN THEIR HAND. The only thing is that you can not only make money from selling products but also by helping others join up "under" you, and training them about the products as well! You're no different from the manager in any company - you can select the best employees, interview them, train them to their fullest potential (or let them fall flat on their faces), and you happen to make EXTRA money for doing so. Have you ever talked to someone from any other MLM-based companies about how they recruit? They do so because people who are in NEED of extra money or who genuinely believe in the products want to help others! It just so happens that they are REWARDED for doing so!

I think the reason people immediately hear of opportunities like Plexus and think that it is somehow wrong or a pyramid scheme is because they are 1) misinformed and 2) have probably been burned in the past. Maybe they joined up with another company and had an upline (people "above" them, or the people who recruited them) who did not train them, didn't offer help, or who was not there for them. They feel like any MLM company will do the same thing to anyone who joins and it upsets them! They are RIGHTFULLY upset because unfortunately someone else misled them and didn't support them! I HATE hearing things like that. It's sad and wrong. Plexus is different - it is NEW and based on support and training and the desire to help people!
